Homesick and Hearts-Sick is a Doctor Who fan fiction series blending the elements of drama, adventure, thrills, and chills we all love about Doctor Who with elements of dreams and personal psychology.

Plot Outline

Homesick: Jane's dreams haunt her. Jane and Justin embark on a journey to discover who she is. Could the answer be standing right in front of them?

Hearts-Sick: Lauryn is no one special with nothing going for her, until a stranger in a blue box sweeps her away into a life she never imagined was possible.

In 2012, Lia had a series of crazy consecutive dreams that eventually turned into the script for Homesick. In late 2015, she gathered a bunch of her favorite people together and her dreams finally became a reality and the story of Jane finally found its place. Lia has performed for several theatre companies in Southern Oregon as well as acted in several indie films. Homesick inspired the development of Cafe-Girl Productions which has many other projects now in production. She is eternally grateful for her Homesick cast and crew for helping her achieve this dream and bring this story to life.

Nick Walker

Justin Walker

Nick is an actor, writer, and therapist. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University. Nick currently works as a therapist while keeping room for his creative passions.

Brittany Hreha

    Brittany has been involved in the Arts all her life. Her first roles consisted of Sunday School Easter Programs which eventually led to involvement in multiple choirs and theatrical productions. Shoestrings Theatrical Production Troupe was where she formed most of her acting skills. Since then, she hasn’t been able to stay away from the stage or the camera! She went on to perform in various performances at Rogue Community College and New Hope Christian College.  She is finally resuming her education at Southern Oregon University as a Music Major. She hopes to one day write original songs and compose film scores and continue to act on stage and on-screen. 

    Hearts-Sick and Homesick is Brittany’s second fantastic venture with Cafe-Girl Productions. Brittany is thrilled to fulfill a long held dream to be in a “Doctor Who” story and hopes to be involved with Cafe-Girl for many projects to come!

Susie Gabumpa is a big geeky Whovian. So when her friend told her that they were putting together a tribute to Doctor Who, Susie jumped at the opportunity to both support her friend and to enjoy being a part of such a fun project. Library Associate by day, Susie becomes a singing, theatrical goober in her spare time. Her latest role was Claire DeLoone in "On The Town" put on by the Randall Theatre. Before that was Betty Haynes in “White Christmas”. She also regularly participates as an actor in "Stories Alive", an organization that encourages children to write by putting on the stories they write as plays. Michael Meyer

Homesick: Mr. E / Hearts-Sick: Voice of the Swarm

Michael is an actor of both stage and screen living in the Rogue Valley. His most notable characters have been Major Arnold from Taking Sides, Tom Hanratty from Light Sensitive, and Sydney Bruhl from Deathtrap. He also has performed in such films as Lawrence of Arabia 2, the soon to be released "Besetment" where he plays Billy, and several creative death scenes in films by Wicked Pixie Productions. Michael played the role of Ray the Porter in Cafe-Girl's Production of "Daggers in Men's Smiles." He also directed Cafe-Girl Productions first short film, Catatonia of the Fairies.

Roy started is acting career at aged 11 playing Darth Vader in a elementary school Christmas play. He is currently the Artistic Director for the Camelot Theatre in Talent Oregon.

Ruby is still fairly new to the arts, beginning less than a year ago on stage. Since then she has been filling her free time learning everything, from being behind the scenes, to lighting, to costumes, and of course, acting itself. She's been involved in lots of little things throughout the years; from being on the radio singing, to modeling, street painting, cosplaying, appearing in the newspaper, or whatever comes her way. She likes to try a little of everything, and is excited to be in front of the camera again!

Othello, Dotty Ottley in Noises Off, Sister Mary Regina in Nonsense and Nuncrackers, Mother

Superior in Sound of Music, Babe in Working, and Mrs. Fezziwig in Scrooge. She has appeared in Thanks for the Memories productions of Rent, Company, Anastasia and The Music Man. She has written a play,

Hedgehog Soul, which has seen local production as well as a novel about the theatre, Dreamcast, which is available on Amazon.

Russ is a part time science instructor for RCC. Theater was “about all I did as an undergrad at SOC in the sixties”. Favorite, of many, roles: Lion, “Wizard of Oz”; Biderman, “Biderman and the Fire Bugs” (Directed by Dr. Dorothy Stolp); A towns person in “Under Milkwood” (Directed by Dr. Anges Bowmer); John, in “Cry Dawn in Dark Babylon” which toured Churches in Oregon and Cardinal Cauchon in “The Lark”. The blacksmith’s son in the movie “Great Northfield Minnesota Raid” ; He is a veteran of Bobby Kidder’s Rogue Community College, Briskworks productions. More recent works include; Old man Morris in “Hot l Baltimore”; Noah Count Esq. “The Tater Family Saga”; The Phantom, “Phantom of the Barbershop”; Anthony Coelho in “Working”; chorus member in” Scrooge the musical”; Several characters in The slightly Askew Players and Senior theater productions; and F. Monty Snotty in “Harmonizers in Space”. The Padre and a Muleteer in “Man of LaMancha” and Russ Smyth in “Homesick” Russ lives in the Applegate Mountains with his wife, Camille, one dog, many cats and 30 chickens.

“It’s been a while since I have been acting. I mostly do our sound design, and a tiny bit of directing, so it feels great to be  on the other side of the camera”, says Tim. Mr. Kelly has recently been seen as Mayor Booth in “Inherit the Wind”, Mayor Shinn in “The Music Man” and the President in “The Manchurian Candidate.” This is Tim’s first project with Cafe-Girl.

Lala Jahn Peterson

Besides her work as the flirtatious barista in Homesick, Lala has appeared in other Cafe-Girl Productions as The Soldier in “Daggers in Men's Smiles” and as The Ex-Girlfriend in “Catatonia of the Fairies.” She has also been featured as Queen Faustina in Saint Sebastian’s music video “Down” and played the role of Helene in Theatre Convivio’s play “A Doll House”. Prior to taking on roles as an actress in film and theatre, Lala was also solo dancer for an Armenian Dance Troupe in San Francisco, CA where she was trained in character development and dance choreography by instructors from the San Francisco Ballet.

his is Haley’s second production with Cafe-Girl. Her first appearance was portraying Malcom in “Daggers in Men’s Smiles.” 

    Haley grew up in California and did community theatre all through high school and during her first two years of community college. She just graduated SOU with her Bachelor of Arts in theatre and was blessed to be a part of the SOU theatre program. Haley is excited to be acting again and look forward to her future acting career.

Mark A. Curci is a highwayman. A vigilant bohemian, Curci is a veteran, artist and scholar with an MFA in creative writing from Naropa University and is a published poet with an upcoming chap book. He wants to thank you, the viewer, for your kind attention and hopes that you all continue to support the local arts and that the road forever rises up to meet you.

As a naturally creative individual, Kira has been actively involved both on & offstage since she was little. While most of her larger roles were high school productions (such as The Sound of Music, Rashomon and Guys & Dolls), she was recently in the Collaborative Theater Project's double features of Plan 9 from Outer Space & Night of the Living Dead. She also appeared in Camelot Theater's Production of "Calendar Girls." Her recent on-screen work has included The Truth About Daisies & Homesick as the Coca-Cola loving Agent K, whereas she's also excelled as a makeup artist, production assistant & assistant director for such films as Homesick, Dreamcast, and The Nightbirds Sing. She also worked as production assistant for the film, Catatonia Of The Fairies.

Carol Worthington

Carol is an accomplished Artistic Talent. She began as a singer and voice-over artist in Scotland then continued her work in America. Here she has acted in numerous plays, and sang with various groups. Most recently she volunteered with SOPTV for a British Show and has helped direct school plays at Pinehurst. Her first on-screen appearance with Cafe-Girl Productions was as an extra for “Daggers in Men’s Smiles.”

A long time ago in a galaxy far away..... 

There was a VERY young princess, who was forced to take dance at a ripe age of three. With help from her masters it became her passion and profession. After many exciting  and hedonistic years of performing around the Caribbean. She was capture by the evil villain....."Age!", so she retired to the "normal life". Wherein she runs the Randall Theater with her husband. Where every once in a while she comes out of her old shell and performs! This time, she will appear not on stage, but will make here onscreen debut. I pray you enjoy the rare sighting of the Little Princess.

Benjamin was born in 1980. Since then he has been involved with numerous people in various occupations or behaviors including: musician, painter, film-maker, friend, chef, actor, regretful employee and optimistic do gooder. He is hoping that everything works out for everybody in the end, but if it doesn't, (which it probably won't), he feels like it will still be ok. He has previously worked with Cafe-Girl Productions as Robert in the soon to be released “Catatonia of the Fairies,” as well as Macbeth in “Daggers in Men’s Smiles.”

James has appeared on stage at the Randall Theatre in Medford. “Daggers In Men's Smiles” was his first film, appearing as an extra in a couple scenes, as well as helping with crew behind the scenes as well as helping to edit. Hearts-Sick is his first on-screen appearance.

Lizzey has been in the BODYlogues at Southern Oregon University. She is currently studying psychology at Southern Oregon University. This is her first on-screen appearance.

Isabella McGuire

Isabella McGuire was born in San Diego, California where she first aspired to become an actress at age 5. The universe however had other plans for her childhood and young adulthood.  She eventually took some acting classes and has performed in a few plays in San Diego.  She recently has trained as a belly dancer and has performed locally as a troupe member of Turkish Delight belly dance troupe.  This will be her first appearance in a film.   

Michael Hovermale

Michael was last seen in his theatrical debut of Nils Krogstad in Theatre Convivio's "A Doll House". Michael has played characters in films ranging from “Black Road” by Gary Lundgren, several shorts by various student directors, to his own short film “Phoenix Eggs” during his time at Southern Oregon University.

As a member of Southern Oregon Film and Media, Michael can be found behind the camera, working with producer/directors, such as Gary Lundgren, Ray Nomoto Robison, and Ron Huffstutter. 

Michael was assistant camera for “Cold Cereal”, a production assistant for “Black Road”, and the producer of the first episode of the television series “The Jeffersonian” for Howard Schreiber.

Noah Fitterer

Noah Fitterer is a junior at SOU. He is a theatre major and loves to entertain. Past musicals Noah has done include Guy’s and Dolls, Grease, and Honk. Other shows Noah has done include Macbeth, Antigone, and Romeo and Juliet, and Spamalot with Camelot Theater. This is Noah’s second appearance in a Cafe-Girl Production.

Jonathan writes, acts, directs, and produces entertainment for stage and screen. He lets people call him Ziggy. He is also an avid runner and yogi.

Jonathan is getting a BFA in sound design from Southern Oregon University and has just finished interning in the sound department at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. At SOU, Jonathan as directed his own adaptation of Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus, Shakespeare’s Lovers, and We Were Dancing and also sound designed many student productions including The Lover and The Mint Julep Trilogy, as well as the mainstage productions of The Metal Children, Glass Menagerie, and Seagull. Jonathan also directed None of the Above and Almost, Maine in his home town of Gold Beach, as well as Mulan JR for a summer camp he created and ran. This is his first film project, and Jon is grateful to Café Girl Productions for this opportunity.

Stephanie D Huebner

Director/Co-Producer

Stephanie Desiree Huebner is an actress, who was inspired in early childhood by Shirley Temple. She has appeared in several Independent Films and numerous local productions; plays and musicals. She uses her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Southern Oregon University, to give her more insight into the characters that she plays and writes for. She is a third generation film maker. She loves storytelling in it's many forms and plans to continue sharing the magic that has always inspired her.
This is Stephanie's second production with Cafe-Girl. Her first appearance was in "Daggers in Men's Smiles" as Ross.

Asela is an aspiring writer who has dabbled in filming during "Homesick." She is currently finishing a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and minor in Emerging Media & Digital Arts (EMDA) at Southern Oregon University. Her works can be seen in World Of Dance and The Odyssey.

Richard Jensen

Cinematographer/Director of Photography

Richard Jensen is an Writer/Director at Celtic Ray Filmworks. For the last couple of years, he’s been making comedy shorts using a stripped down production model similar to Robert Rodriguez. His short “The Heroes of the War on Christmas” was screened last year in Los Angeles at The ACME Comedy Theater. Another short, “Glengarry Glen Styx” received third place at the 2’nd Annual Klamath Independent Film Festival. He has also been a cinematographer for the web series “Homesick” and sound recordist for Dan McCloy’s film “Beach Blanket Frankenstein”.

Justin Blasdel is a professionally trained playwright who has been writing and creating art for over ten years. He has won a place in the Astoria’s New Playwright’s festival, and he currently has one of his pieces of digital art in the L. Alan Arts Project gallery. He is married and has one child, and is currently living in Medford, Oregon.

Francesca Solano is from Antioch, California. She went to Southern Oregon University for Costume Design and Costume Construction in Theater. There she discovered her love of stage make-up. Special-FX make-up is her specialty along with millinery and corsetry.

Hair & Makeup Artist

Darby McCue is a freelance makeup artist , costume designer and stylist .She works on fashion photography , television , film and stage productions . Darby produces and performs in her own variety shows with an emphasis on preserving the art of vintage Burlesque. She has been in many local independent films, including playing one of the leads in Wicked Pixie Films, Beach Blanket Frankenstein.

David "Glamour Dave" Nienow has worked as a fashion, glamour & fitness photographer whose work has been published in MuscleMag International magazine, American Curves for Men magazine, Planet Muscle magazine, the cover of BOSS retail catalog, BOSS Calendars, Teeze magazine, Body Talk magazine, Mister Magazine (Australia), eGirlsNews Magazine, and AskMen.com. His work has also been selected for use as a national promotional poster campaign for Colt 45 beer. David has served as both official webmaster & official site photographer for fitness models Tara Caballero, Erin Ellington, Melissa Budreau, and Brandy Maddron. He has also provided graphic design services for his numerous model clients creating logos, comp cards, and custom posters. David has recently completed the Studio Producer Certification Workshop for Rogue Valley Community Television. And is continuing his video education with the Field Production Certification classes for Rogue Valley Community Television. And will be taking additional intermediate and advanced courses through 2017 thru the SOU Digital Media Center. This is David’s first project with Cafe-Girl Productions.
